The studio
Hi, I'm Nico.
SwellShaper is my one-person software studio. After fifteen years of building software inside companies, this is how I want to do it: small tools, for people I care about over the long term.
What I did before this
I co-founded a music-education company in Paris in 2010 with my friend Greg Dell'Era, and we rode that wave for fifteen years. Weezic's software listened to you play, followed along on the score and gave you feedback. It won numerous innovation awards, including MIDEM Lab in 2014 and NAMM's Best Tools for Schools in 2015. We sold it to MakeMusic, the American company behind Finale and SmartMusic. Then we both stayed. I ran their engineering team, more than twenty-five people across France and the United States, and kept working closely with Greg on the group's strategy as he went on to become president of MakeMusic and Alfred Music.
Before any of that I was at Bain, a strategy consultancy, from 2006 to 2010. I worked with leadership teams and their investors, figuring out answers to the problems their companies were facing.

Where I am
I'm French, in my forties. I live in Mallorca with my wife and our two kids. I work in English and French (write to me in either).
Outside SwellShaper I make electronic music and generative art (visuals made with code).
I also keep helping other companies and founders build exciting solutions with today's technologies.
